What we do

Removing the barriers, not just one of them

Cost, water, hunger, gender and a weak learning environment all push rural children out of education. Tackling one on its own rarely keeps a child in class, so our programmes work together.
Programme 1

Equipping for Success

Back-to-school essentials, classroom furniture, computers and a library — the tools children need to learn.
We equip classrooms and students with what they need to learn: school essentials at the start of the year, proper furniture, computer and digital literacy training, and a library stocked with books. NDERAGAKURA, our flagship project at LC Masango in Burundi, delivered with our partner AHS Nderagakura, is doing exactly this — computers, solar power and a community Wi-Fi hotspot for an entire school.
Programme 2

Water and Sanitation

Access to clean water, sanitation facilities and hygiene education at school.
Water and sanitation come first: without them, the school day is interrupted by illness and long walks to fetch water. We bring safe water points and sanitation facilities to partner schools, paired with hygiene education for students. At ECOFO Masango in Burundi, a water system extension delivered with our partner AHS Nderagakura brought water closer to the classrooms and added four new fountains, ending a single overcrowded fountain shared by 1,500+ students.
Programme 3

Feeding the Future

School feeding programmes, using available land to grow part of what is served.
Hunger keeps children from learning. We run school feeding programmes and work with schools to use available land to grow part of their own food, alongside a school canteen that keeps children fed and in class.

Programme 4

Gender Equality

Awareness-raising so every girl has the same chance as every boy to learn.
Girls remain the most likely to be kept home from a rural school. We raise awareness in schools and communities about the importance of educating every child equally, regardless of gender.

Learning Environment

It takes a village to raise a child — stronger school communities through local engagement, climate awareness, and parent-teacher partnership.
It takes a village to raise a child. A good learning environment goes beyond the classroom: we support local community engagement, raise awareness of climate change, and strengthen Parent-Teacher Associations so schools are backed by the people around them.

Every one of these starts with a donation

You can give once, give monthly, or sponsor a child through school.
